A public access barrister is a registered barrister who has received training to accept instructions from the public directly without the intervention of a solicitor or other qualified professional.
In all his/her professional work a registered barrister is required to abide by the professional code of conduct contained in the current Bar Handbook published by the Bar Standards Board who is the statutory regulator of the Bar of England and Wales.
Lay client(s) using a public access barrister may find it useful to read the public access scheme guidance for barristers so that they may acquaint themselves with the recommended guidance by which a barrister seeks to abide when undertaking their work and providing services to them on a public access basis.
