The Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Act 2016 followed recent cases in the public domain where there had been poor oversight by some of their fund raising activities and misconduct and mismanagement of charitable assets. All has shone a light on their work, their compliance with the Charities Act 2011 (as amended), and caused investigation and enforcement by regulators such as the Charities Commission.
The Covid 19 pandemic impacted the financial resources of charities. Their ability to carry out fund raising activities was limited by lockdowns and social distancing.
The Charities Act 2011 has now been amended by the Charities Act 2022. The latter Act covers, trustees, mergers, costs incurred in legal proceedings, names, land, and charitable purposes, powers and governing documents.
