Applications.

The Head of Chambers invites applications from practising barristers to join us and who have –

  • established practices or who have completed 12 months of chancery and/or commercial pupillage with an established set of Chambers.
  • an excellent academic record with at least a 2:1 degree or above.
  • a “very competent” final grade in the Bar Training Course.

Applications are welcomed from all seniorities including silk with practices in Tennyson’s fields of chancery and commercial work to join us.

Nature of practice required.

Candidates will only be accepted if they have a chancery and commercial practice or wish to practice in these areas. Please see the breakdown of practice areas on this web site to see what areas are included.

Barristers wishing to apply for membership of Tennyson Chambers may do so by sending a copy of their written curriculum vitae with a covering letter to the Head of Chambers Miss Susan Brown Tennyson Chambers Ocean Village Innovation Centre Ocean Way Southampton SO14 3JZ.

Terms of membership will be discussed with successful applicants which will comply with chambers written constitution.

All applicants must have a current practising certificate and be insured by Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund Limited.

Key Areas

Forms of membership.

Two forms of membership of Tennyson Chambers are available namely as a virtual office member/door tenant and as a full member. With the changes in working practices brought about in the pandemic members are able to work from home if they wish to do so.

Academic panel members.

Tennyson Chambers is also looking to recruit part time academic members to join us. Interested academics can make further enquiry by writing to the Head of Chambers Miss Susan Brown as above.
